What therapy is offered?

We offer individual EMDR therapy to children or adult clients. Sessions are offered online or in-person at our North London base in West Hampstead and surrounding areas.

what is Emdr therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a psychotherapy approach developed to help people recover from trauma and emotional distress. Although it began as a treatment for PTSD it is now proven to be effective for broader range of needs. These include:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Adoption and Attachment traumas

  • Abuse and neglect

  • Experiences of Bullying

  • Depression and Low Mood

  • Grief and Loss

  • Low Self- Esteem and/or Self-Confidence

  • Performance anxiety

  • Phobias and Fears.

  • Secondary Trauma (in professional or for those in caring roles)

  • Workbased difficulties and trauma

How EMDR Works

When traumatic events occur, the brain can become “stuck”, leaving the memory and associated emotions unprocessed. The same function occurs for large and small ‘t’ traumas.

EMDR helps unlock that memory and supports the brain in fully processing the event helping you not to feel stuck with the difficult memories, experiences and associations.

During a session, you will be guided by your Therapist to work through these stuck points so that they cease to trouble you or your mind. Over time, the memory becomes less emotionally intense and will cause less or no distress for you.
